Event series by Prof. Dr. med. Peter Vajkoczy, Director, Department of Neurosurgery at the Charité Berlin and Aesculap.

Expand the neurosurgical horizon

The event series “Visiting Professor at the Charité” aims to attract established specialists and leading figures in neurosurgery to expand the neurosurgical horizon of mainly junior clinicians and academics through lectures and hands-on workshops held at the Charité. At the same time, the interested public is invited to attend open lectures organized for the event.

The main objective, knowledge transfer from renowned neurosurgeons to eager young colleagues, reflects the corporate philosophy of Aesculap, the exclusive cooperation partner of this event series: “Sharing Expertise”.

6th Visiting Professor at the Charité from 08-10 November 2013

Professor Bernard George is Chief of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Lariboisière University Hospital in Paris. His expertise on the field of neurosurgery was awarded with the prestigious Olivecrona Medal and the Wilhelm Magnus Medal. In addition to around 250 publications, Professor George gave numerous presentations on Skull Base and Vascular Surgery.

5th Visiting Professor at the Charité from 08-09 November 2012

Prof. Dr. Johannes Schramm, former head of the Neurosurgical Department at the University of Bonn. Professor Schramm is an acknowledged expert for intraoperative electro-physiological neuromonitoring. Retired since 2012 he is still the second Vice-President for Europe of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS).
